Earth is warming faster than ever recorded, with major acceleration in global temperatures since around 2015 surging to approximately 0.35°C per decade, nearly double the average pace observed from 1970 to 2015 and with 2023 and 2024 the hottest years. Warming reached 1.37°C above pre-industrial levels in 2025 and is expected to exceed 1.5°C within around four years. It is causing accelerating sea level rise, increasing ocean temperatures and more frequent marine heatwaves.
